visionPDX-related reports

visionPDX Phone Survey Results

visionPDX contracted with Davis, Hibbitts & Midghall, Inc., a local opinion research firm, to conduct a phone survey to assess attitudes of Portand residents towards our city's future and reactions to potential action steps in implementing our vision. Read all about what we learned here.

Final Vision Document

The vision document is the broad perspective of our findings - a "30,000 foot view" of Portland in the future - and includes a historical context to visioning, our community vision statement, our values, the five elements of our city (Built, Natural, Economic, Learning and Social), demographic and environmental trends, community challenges, the visionPDX process and more.

visionPDX Resolution and supporting documents

Here you can read the visionPDX resolution that was unanimously accepted by Portland City Council on September 19, along with all the associated documents.

Community Input Summary

This report is the most direct reflection (other than the database) of community input. It will ultimately be approximately 300 pages summarizing all of the 21,000 pages of data read by visionPDX volunteers, encapsulated by the visionPDX Drafting Committee, and refined by staff to make it accessible for readers and organized by themes. For Sept. 19th, we presented an abridged version of the nine main areas: health, economy, social issues, environment, education, urban livability, government, transportation, public safety-to present to Council. The full document will be available later this fall.

Community Engagement Report

This report serves the purpose of highlighting visionPDX's emphasis on community involvement, with vibrant stories of community engagement over the two visionPDX engagement phases, along with some principles of community involvement to pass on to other projects.

Portland 2030 Booklet

This booklet was released by visionPDX in May 2007, and represents what we heard from the community about the Portland that people want to see in the future. In May-July, we talked to people at over 30 meetings about the booklet's contents, and will be using what we heard to finalize the vision.

Mid-term visionPDX Grants Report

This document captures the stories, the challenges and the successes of the 29 community organizations funded through visionPDX. Produced August 2006, prior to completion of the grant periods.

Uniting Cultures in Portland: Bridging the Gaps in City Policy

Report released by the Center for Intercultural Organizing , a visionPDX grantee, that provides a summary of data collected for visionPDX during the summer 2006 outreach period.

Themes and Comments from Neighborhood Leaders

This report summarizes comments of more than 80 Chairs and Vice-Chairs of Portland's Neighborhood Associations. This report captures the discussion on visionPDX, Community Connect, and Charter Review held September 16, 2006 at Concordia University.

Original visionPDX Questionnaire

This survey was the main mechanism used to retrieve feedback from the community in the first outreach phase of visionPDX.  The survey was complemented by a variety of innovative and culturally appropriate outreach methods as a way to reach a wide audience.  Over 12,000 people filled out this survey.
